Rene Quintanilla Obituary (1952 - 2026)

With deep love and remembrance, we announce the passing of Rene Quintanilla, who went home to be with the Lord on January 14, 2026, at the age of 73. Rene was a beloved friend, son, brother, father, and grandfather whose life was marked by faith, strength, and devotion to family. He was known for his kind heart, sense of humor, generosity, and the steady presence he provided to those who knew and loved him. Rene found great joy in cooking and fishing at the beach. He was also a talented guitarist who loved playing his guitar and singing, often entertaining as a true one-man band. His adventurous spirit and boundless enthusiasm will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Above all, Rene cherished his family. He was especially proud of his daughter and son-in-law and often expressed how thankful he was to know they had built a good life together, a reassurance that brought him great peace. He will forever be remembered as a proud grandpa to his grandchildren, Gianna, Avianna, and Little Ricky, whom he lovingly called his “baby giraffes”. He was preceded in death by his father, Rosendo Quintanilla; his mother, Julia Quintanilla; his brothers, Jesus “Chuy” Quintanilla and Juan Quintanilla; and his sisters, Elida Q. Longoria and Elvira Quintanilla. He is survived by his daughter, Andrea Martinez and husband, Rick Jr.; his brothers, Guadalupe Quintanilla and Rosendo Quintanilla Jr.; and his three beloved grandchildren, Gianna Martinez, Avianna Martinez, and Ricky Martinez III. While our hearts mourn his loss, we take comfort in knowing that Rene is at peace and in the presence of our Heavenly Father. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and his love will remain forever in our hearts.
